Join us for an evening screening of Garsington Opera’s brand new production of Handel’s famous opera, Semele, an extraordinary love story with a twist, first performed on 1st June 2017, presented by Looping the Loop and Opera for All.
The Guardian’s Tim Ashey describes this new production as “Handel’s celestial opera remade as a Technicolor romcom.” Read his review.
The Evening Standard’s Barry Millington says it is “cracking” and encourages Londoners to travel to see it — read review.
Watch a video with an interview with the director and conductor.
There will be related family friendly activities and excerpts all day – something for all ages to get involved with, from little ones to grown ups – and the professionals from Garsington on hand to explain and involve everyone.
Last year a group of local people became our Community Chorus and appeared in pop up operatic performances around the town, flash mob style! If you would like to join in and have the chance to sing with professional opera singers, and learn from Garsington’s musical director get in touch to find out about advance workshop opportunities: email email@example.com
Visit the Looping the Loop website gallery to see some videos and images from last year’s Opera for All event at Ramsgate Festival “The Big Opera Takeover”, which centred on a screening of Garsington’s production of Eugene Onegin.
