John Ray talks lifeboats

A talk about the history of lifeboats at Ramsgate, some of the most noteworthy rescues and the work of the RNLI today.

John Ray has been an active supporter of the RNLI for many years. He was a shore helper and crew member at Shoreham Harbour during the late 1970s and 1980s and after having moved to Thanet and taken early retirement was appointed volunteer press officer at Ramsgate lifeboat station in 2008. He and his wife, Vanessa, are both Ramsgate lifeboat station’s archivists and have recently written a book about the history of the station for the RNLI which they have published. They are also both appointed RNLI Education Presenters and, as such, give talks on beach and sea safety to school and youth groups in the Thanet area.

Book tickets online (with booking fee) or get them at Nice Things in Ramsgate and at Vinyl Head Cafe and Record Shop (no fee).
