The Shoreline Project short film programme

A selection of short films made by people from coastal communities in nine countries who are addressing environmental, economic and social problems. With issues such as a surge in coastal tourism, increased dumping of industrial waste, plastic litter and rising seas, violent storms and other environmental concerns due to global warming, there has never been a better time to rethink our relationship to our shorelines.

The Canadian initiative The Shore Line Project is an online resource of short films, each under five minutes in length, profiling the efforts of educators, artists, architects, scientists, city planners, and youth organizations from nine countries across the globe who are confronting coastal challenges with persistence and imagination. It aims to inspire diverse ways of responding to our changing environment, to think globally and act locally, posing the question, ‘What can we learn from those living on the coast, the front line of environmental change?’ We hope this selection of films from the project may inspire a response from our own coastal community.Directed by Elizabeth Miller.
