Our Kickstarter campaign to raise a vital £3000 towards the costs of this year’s Ramsgate Festival is getting close to its goal…but not close enough. It closes at midnight tonight Sat 30 July….please, please can you give a little help? If we fail to reach the goal, none of the pledges are downloaded and we receive nothing. Please look here, we’d be so grateful….
We’re in the last weekend of 9 days of Festival. It’s been a gorgeous mix of activity and scale. We were delighted that the Festival could work with artists Aidan Gray and Sue Fletcher, hosting their project LITTORAL LIGHT as a pre-festival opening event. On Friday 22 July the beach from Ramsgate to Dumpton Gap was transformed with light installations by 15 artists as the sun went down…
The following night we transformed the beach again, with Garsington Opera’s free screening of Eugene Onegin….magical, powerful, passionate, with a crowd of over 300 people.
The End of the Pier Show on Thursday night was racy, raunchy, eye-wateringly funny. Sadie Hennessy has created a brilliant variety spectacle. Tonight, Sat 30th, we have a parade of stunning huge lit creatures, all made by local people and artists this week.
The festival is more than a show and activity, it’s something that can touch everyone who lives here in Thanet and very importantly can do that by providing most of its work free of charge so all can participate.
