This year RamsgateFestival will run from 22-30 July, alongside the Ramsgate Week sailing regatta.
This year’s theme is Dream Marine, encourages us all to dream, to dream big and to make all our dreams come true.
The programme we deliver is only made possible thanks to all our wonderful supporters, those who donate time and money to enable us to do what we do. Please support the Festival through our Kickstarter campaign or by donating when you pick up a programme – if you’d like to!
Starting with opera on the beach (Handel’s Semele from Garsington Opera) and finishing with Fire Finale, the packed programme includes: Littoral Light, a beautiful illuminated twilight art installation on a remote stretch of beach involving 40 artists; the Ramsgate Slide, a giant waterslide descending Royal Parade, inspired by UK artist Luke Jerram; Jimmy’s Boatyard, a unique installation from Russian artists Cardboardia and Yorkshire’s Handmade Parade, working with local artists, who will bring a daily programme of boat making in the harbour (think BIG!), Pirate Day midweek, Ramsgate Meridian 5:41 marking Ramsgate time which is 5 minutes and 51 seconds ahead of Greenwich — and a host of diverse, fun and serious, high quality events that celebrate the unique maritime location of this extraordinary place, from nautical-themed computer games at the Micro Museum, to Ramsgate Reflections heritage talks, Follow the Muse artistic evenings at Vinyl Head and Ramsgate Treasures galore – walks, yoga, mindfulness and plenty of music and performances. See What’s On — note that not everything is on the website yet so keep checking back for more information.
