Ramsgate, Landscape & People from Prehistory to the Present

A talk by Ges Moody in The Wellington Room at The Falstaff Hotel

For over three centuries Ramsgate’s geology, archaeology and history have been studied and explored by local and national researchers, revealing a story of national significance.

But the separate elements of research into Ramsgate’s past are not widely known and their links have rarely been considered as part of a single narrative.

In a wide ranging talk, Ges Moody will link all the elements of research into the landscape and people of Ramsgate, into a story of which the town can be justifiably proud.

Ges Moody is the Director of The Trust for Thanet Archaeology, an education charity based at Quex Park, Birchington, where he has been investigating Thanet’s historical and archaeological landscape for 14 years. Ges is the author of two books on the local area, The Isle of Thanet from Prehistory to the Norman Conquest and St Augustine’s First Footfall, which both seek to understand historical events in the context of Thanet’s landscape and longer term historical trends.

Please help the Festival!

We are dependent on fundraising to make our full programme happen this year and every year. Please consider supporting us with a donation to help secure the Festival and its future. If everyone in Ramsgate were to give just one a pound, imagine what we could achieve for the town!

Find out how you can help, watch our fun Kickstarter video, featuring actress Brenda Blethyn and a host of other Ramsgate people and please share the link with everyone you can think of who may like to help!
