Meanwhile, here’s some heartfelt words from Festival Director Andrew Gibson:

Well, what year it has been! Despite all the odds I am delighted to say that we have come back stronger and more determined than ever to give you an unforgettable nine days in the wonderful surroundings of Ramsgate Town as it celebrates 200 years of its beautiful Royal Harbour.

Our Sonic Trail features installations from ten brilliant and varied artists, celebrating the landscapes, history and people of Ramsgate, as well as its surrounding area and beyond. We are delighted to be presenting spectacular outdoor events in Vale Square, Ellington Park and Winterstoke Gardens featuring live music, theatre, the ever-popular Screaming Alley Cabaret, as well as jazz with ‘Dear Nina…Love Ray X and Mercury Prize-nominated tour de force Nadine Shah. Our new festival favourite Busk at Dusk returns alongside a new addition, Hear the People Sing, a celebration of music, voice and community.

Most events are free with just a few exceptions, however some will require booking in advance so we can comply with social distancing measures if required. At the time of going to press we are hopeful that all will be as you see in this brochure.

I would like to thank Arts Council England, Ramsgate Town Council, and our Festival Sponsor The Offy Whitstable.

A very special thanks also goes to our Festival Ambassador Nadine Shah and our Angel Founding Members whose support has seen us through a very difficult time. And last but not least, a  HUGE thanks to all the artists, volunteers, YOU and everyone who attends the festival –  we couldn’t do this without you! So come outside and share with us the Stories from the Sea!

Andrew Gibson, Festival Director.
