What does it mean to ‘regenerate’ a town? And what will regeneration mean for Ramsgate? Are you excited because more shops might open on the high street? Are you worried your rent might go up, making it more difficult for you to live here? Maybe you have a mixture of feelings, or maybe you just don’t know what to expect at all.
Ramsgate Reconnects is a chance for you to find out what’s the council’s plans are for ‘Ramsgate Future’. We want to offer you an opportunity to amplify your voices, air your views and immerse yourself in a symphony of sounds, as we work together to create a tactile sonic map, thinking through the impact of change and connection together.
With the help of composer, sonic artist and Neurodivergent Advocate Louis Palfrey, this collaborative, temporary installation will use conductive paint and the power of touch to bring the decision making process to life. We believe the experience will be fun and engaging even if you’re not interested in the regeneration plans at all!
NB: this is an independent event and not affiliated with Thanet District Council or Ramsgate Town Council. This event exists to help inform townspeople about the council’s plans, and offer an opportunity to speak your mind about them, whether you have positive, negative or mixed feelings.
Accessibility:
This event is suitable for all ages and abilities. AiR is a physically accessible venue and a Neurodivergent aware organisation. There will be fairly loud and sometimes sudden noises. Those who experience sound sensitivity are welcome to participate at their own discretion, and we will provide earplugs for those who would like them. Please contact [email protected] if you have any queries or additional requirements.
